I found photoshop really hard to use whilst trying to edit my photo's - this was the first time I had attempted to edit any photo.
I used youtube tutorials to find out how to do certain things, including removing the background. I found that there were three ways to remove the background on a photo - one being the 'magic eraser tool' in which you could click on parts of the background and it would remove them. This way removed the background very quickly although it made many mistakes and would often cut off parts that I would need and would make rough edges. Another way was the eraser tool in which was a rubber which removed the background, this was very time-consuming and took a lot of perfecting around the edge's of the photo. The last way was the 'background eraser tool' in which you had to create a new solid coloured layer and remove the background, this again took some time to complete but was more precise and looked a lot better!
After editing three different pictures, I noticed that when making my final digi-pack I will need to keep to the same theme as otherwise they do not look like a digi-pack together as the pictures are too different to one another.
I also used different textures and layers when editing my photo's, this gave a really good effect with using these and made my photo's look so much better! I liked the stamp's I made with changing the brush shape :) I would then change the opacity of the layer which held these stamp's to blend these into the background.
To soften the image into the new background I wanted I would have to use the 'blur' and 'smudge' tools to not have such a hard edge on the photo I wanted on top. This was pretty easy to use and you could change the levels of how much I needed for that particular photo. This also made the image look better and would blend it in a lot more.
I used many other effects too to help my photo look realistic and into the background.
The main tip I learnt from my photos would be to spend more time removing the background of an image as this is really important and is really noticed later on even though I didn't expect it at the time.
Overall, I think I feel a lot more comfortable with photoshop now than I used to and will be a lot more happy when I am using this piece of software for my final digi-pack!!
