Music video day (all media students)

During this day I realised how long it can take to film the smallest clip in a music video, I also noticed how you can end up shooting the same small clip multiple times due to the smallest imperfection as this really makes a difference in the end. This helped me realise the importance of having long shooting days - you need these to be able to get the work done.
I also learnt about the importance of planning out this day in every step and knowing what to do at every moment of the day, unorganisation can ruin the whole shooting day.

My main role during this day was teaching the five males the dance routine for the music video. I thought that I would find this task pretty easy but infact I found it rather hard to teach them as none of them had danced before and had no previous experience of dance. When I do my own music video I now understand the importance of more rehearsals, we had only planned around two plus a final on the day and originally I thought that this would be enough but after I realised it was not due to people forgetting and not turning up to rehearsals at the last minute. As the dancers did not have much experience within dance they were unable to follow all the moves together perfectly so some of the moves had to be simplified which I found pretty easy to do but if were to do again, I would plan these simplified dance movements before the rehearsals to make this easier for myself. On the day the only real problem I came across was not knowing the time that each phrase of movements was in the music. When doing my own music video, I will now have noted down each time within the music that this is so that I will not have to keep going back to this on the day. I think it would have also helped the dancers if I had filmed them during a rehearsal doing the dance so that they could both see themselves doing the dance and pick up improvements themselves and so that they could watch the video in the early morning of the day to help remind themselves of the movements and after run through the dance a few times with the dancers.
