Target Audience

We decided that our band was similar to other male bands like The Script and The Foo Fighters. From researching into these type of bands target audience, we decided that we would go for a target audience aged around 18 to 30 both male and female. We decided that the sub-culture of people who would listen to our music would be 'rockers'.

These people would most likely live in London or near by. They would enjoy festivals and live music, they would like to have a good time with their friends having a drink and a party. They would be interested in fashion and make up and would enjoy dressing up. They love spending quality time with big groups of friends and they all would be very interested in music themselves.

We want this target audience and they are most ideal for our band because our band are similar musically to The Script and The Foo Fighters, so they would have similar target audience's to each other being 18 to 30 years and both male and female. A young audience would be good for our band as they would be interested in many festivals and it is a majority of this age range who go to festivals.

Both a male and female audience would be suitable because the band are romantic, gentle and soft which would attract a wide female range but they too are very strong minded and powerful, they also give an image of 'cool' which we want to attract a wide male audience. Both a male and female audience would be good for our band as they attract more people this way and the 'rocker' sub-culture that we are aiming for have many large groups of both male and females which we would like all of these people in these groups to enjoy our band and their music together.

We would like a target audience who live in London or near by as this would be a popular place to have gigs and festivals and major tour dates. We would also like this because this attracts an 'city' environment audience and as our band are from a major city we would like the audience to have something in common with the band.

Because our band are young, we want to mainly advertise our band on social networking websites such as facebook, twitter, myspace and youtube and their own website so our target audience must be able to access these websites. Our band would communicate with them in this way and our band would be on many radio stations with their songs playing and doing interviews to get them better known so an audience who listen to a radio station whilst getting ready in the morning would be good and we feel that our audience would do this as they have an interest in music.

As mentioned before, our band would perform at many festivals and gigs to help raise their profile and our target audience would definitely be interested in going to festivals and gigs so this would really help with the audience that we want them to gain.
