Today I worked on editing the other photo for the other side of my inside panel of the digipak and also the disk. I decided that I wanted to use a photo just of the main band member for this as he should have more attention brought to him and many other campaigns do this.
I started with changing the brightness of the photo, bringing the saturation down and the hue up.
I then changed the colour balance, making the photo more red.
I then put a lens flare on the photo to make a difference and bring attention to the light that he was holding as I imagined that this would look professional and very effective.
I really liked the effect that this had on the photo, especially the light beams near the top of the photo.
I decided that the photo needed a slight blur on it and decided that the gaussian blur looked the best after experimenting with all of the different blurs. I changed the radius to one pixel as this looked the best for this photo.
I then decided that this design that I just made would be used for the disk so had to re-edit the photo for the part of the digipak underneath the disk.
Firstly, I moved the brightness of the photo up and the contrast down.
I then changed the colour balance of the photo again making it more red.
I again thought that the photo looked too boring so again went onto www.textureking.com and downloaded two different textures and tested them both on top of my photo. When asking people which photo they preferred they told me that the liked the wood effect the best as it suited our outdoor theme and looked the most effective. Below is a photo of the texture that I chose in the end.
On the part of the digi-pak that I was using for the actual disk, I cut it out to make it the shape of a disk and also made the small circle in the middle.
After, for this image I put a film grain over the photo as this made it look a lot more effective.
