For my narrative video, I chose Rihanna - We Found Love.
This music video shows a story of a boy and a girl's (being Rihanna herself) relationship coming to an end. We can see many flashbacks of good times together but also bad - arguments and fights. Between the flashbacks we are shown the couple sitting in the bath with one another not even being able to hold a second's eye contact with one another.
We see many close up's of Rihanna, her partner and the couple together. At the beginning this is introducing the characters to the audience but is also showing facial expressions of how that character is feeling about the situation; neither of them look happy. There is a shot of the couple together in which the camera is filming a still shot of them but the background behind them is moving around with slightly blurred bright lights giving the impression that the couple can only see one another and everything else around them is blurred out. The flashbacks of the couples are at many different places and are only on screen for a few seconds at a time although most of these flashbacks are repeated throughout the video.
Also, in between the flashbacks we have shots of Rihanna in their room, there are red, green and blue fairy lights around as these colours seem to be a big impact on the lighting throughout the video. The bright lighting seems to be really important within the video as this is a main theme. The bright lighting gives the impression of partying and night clubs.
As the beat kicks in, we see the couple taking drugs which is a cause of all of the shots speeding up by a lot and them all being a slight bit blurry. The bright lighting continues with shots of the bonfire and Rihanna spelling out 'Yours' with sparklers. We continue to see flashbacks with bright lighting throughout to continue the themes throughout the video.
The video ends with Rihanna walking back in to the house/flat/apartment and seeing her partner passed out on the floor and packing her stuff to leave - this is the end of this narrative.
